Michael Fu, MD - HSS Orthopedic Surgeon and Shoulder Specialist

We are a specialty orthopedic practice at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City (NYC) and New Jersey (NJ), with a dedicated focus on treating conditions of the shoulder. Though we would always prefer to treat patients non-surgically, there are times when surgery is necessary, either when non-surgical treatments have failed or in certain acute injuries. Even just in the shoulder, however, there is a variety of surgical procedures that we perform for conditions such as shoulder instability, shoulder rotator cuff tears, and shoulder arthritis.

This is a resource for our patients highlighting the most common shoulder procedures performed, what is involved in the operation, and what they might expect after surgery. It is meant to serve as an overview, and individual cases can be unique. If you have any questions about your specific case, please contact our office.
